Thanks for the feedback Jeff. I've completely synced the maya shader with the one in CE3 which means that the blend factor and blend falloff values used in maya will look exactly the same in CE3. Hi, I'm Will. I have a Computer Science degree with a gamedev focus, I've been working on an online/co-op topdown arena game where players basically fight each other until they're the last survivor. Like a Battle Royale! I've implemented most of the core systems for the prototype that I plan on releasing to Greenlight and…
I'm assuming you're looking for the "samwise-influenced" style of 3d handpaintedness with distance-optimized character proportions and potential complimentary (ab)use of the Benguiat typeface. The Torchlights, Dungeon Defenders, and Paladins are just a few that I can immediately name off the top of my head right now.…
Hello there! I'm Gwen, a senior character artist. I worked in Montreal for 11 years as a character artist for Gameloft, Ludia or Behaviour and moved to the Netherlands for personal reasons: I am only looking for remote freelance jobs since I will not relocate. I mostly worked on mobile games, meaning I have a lot of…

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm definitely going to continue doing some 3D, as I use it a lot to start my concepts. My dilemma was more about just continuing to do my messy, concept art type of 3D vs learning to do proper production 3D, which is another beast altogether. Maybe I'll try to do more handpainted…
Once again, thanks guys. I had so much fun making this environment and I'm very glad you enjoy it. @kyle.rau and Mr.Bear The light setup is pretty standard but went through a lot of tweaking. Looking back, I made the mistake of trying to fine tune my lighting too early on not taking into account what I would be adding to…
Thanks, it's a mix usually. I tend to work a a lot with photos first, to get a quick base and then go in and handpaint masks like scratches and rust and stuff, I also try and add subtle gradients wherever I can to add a bit of depth, but have to be careful with that depending on how the texture is supposed to tile. Other…
