After some fiddling I've noticed that exposing a parameter will reveal it as what-it-is ie, exposing the pattern type of a tile generator shows you the capsule "variable" is integer 15 in its list now the if/else makes sense, but I'm still not sure where you can type in specific code? or even if there is documentation on…
here-- I did this in 15 minutes, and completely zoomed out the entire time. Do you see how I'm using great big brushes and brush strokes? That's how you lay down good solid base values and then you can go in and star doing some details. So yeah, good luck mate :)
Guy that looks like Snake, with his left arm missing, and the Union Jack in the background when he wakes up. If only there was a character in MGS that linked all those three things together and who hasn't been in the series in nearly 15 years. It's right there, but I can't quite grasp it, it's like trying to grab a liquid…
Clip Pro Studio is a pretty awesome tool--I love how crisp and smooth its pen tool is, and you can really quickly get very smooth painted textures with the watercolor brush, if I recall. It reminds me a lot of Paint Tool Sai, and is just as fun to use...certainly worth 15 bucks.
If it looks fine in UDK, that's all that matters. Max is only a tool to help you get there. You might also try the settings in the Configure Direct3D dialog, specifically turning on "Redraw Scene On Window Expose". http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-4FB6180F-7C21-4B0E-903B-D25974C92FB7.htm
Can someone explain to me why every iteration of Maya is just painfully slow during startup and closing? Also what makes the same process so much faster in Modo? Closing Modo is seriously instant, while Maya takes a good 10-15 seconds to close every time, even more sometimes.
If you are new to working on video games and only have portfolio assets to show it's okay to have one or two pieces that are highly optimized (out of 6-8 things in a portfolio). For other artists who have been doing video game art for 5, 10, or 15 years showing that you can optimize isn't necessary.
Well this MtId baking system is frustating for me or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyway I finally did it by exploding entire high poly into pieces, cause it looks like this tool doesn't work with 3dsmax MtlIDs, and in the end I got 35 high poly meshes and 15 low poly meshes for baking.
Nope BUT i feel like it'll take a long time before i get where I want Hearing talks from the fellas thats been in the bizz for a while say they've been at it for 15+ years pisses me off Nothing I can do about it except get back to work though.
The one video game related podcast I listen to is VGNRadio at http://gaming-news.info/modules/news/ . It's not all that great for quality news, but it is entertaining to listen to, and it's not done by some 15 year olds who only go by aliases. This Week in Tech is good if you like tech and most of the people from the old…
