those are just sprites displayed in an orthographic view. old school stuff. the tiles are handpainted and then just placed on a grid. you need to be able to paint those sprites, like the plants, the house, etc. i guess there are lots of tutorials about this in the www.
Well I just bought the modular asset tutorial. I liked it and learned a lot of new tips/tricks. The only thing is that I would like to have seen is some ways of making domes and other objects that are able to snap to the grid.
did you reset the x-form? can we get a screen with bounding box, grid, wires and axis? include the x y z transofrm numbers at the bottom, under the animation bar (highlit the geo and have the move tool selected)
Hey there! I am currently doing a class at 3D cgma. Its the second week. We have to align the concept on the grid and block out the Model. I will update this every week ;) enjoy and feel free to comment and give me some feedback
Neat idea! I think an art version of a stack-like support forum would really need some tight image integration - thumbnails with posts and possibly grid and list views with images in the main question and anwsers would be very useful.
FBX doesn't support animated UVs, but most game engines support flipbooks, a method of animating the UV offset in a grid pattern. I haven't watched the video, but all three methods as described in this thread DO work in both game engines.
Top menu + side menu + bottom menu = too much O o" Personally, I'd just line up all your work in some kind of grid like Pinterest. Of course you should organize them by project and all.
I can definitely see what direction you are taking it-looks good so far. I am sure you are going to break up the similarity within the grid with some solid additions to your texture. looking forward to seeing it!
Found a few more: http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/WorkflowAndModularity.html http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/2475/creating_modular_game_art_for_fast_.php Both are geared more towards environment assets and not weapons, but there's a good amount of grid/snaps/general techniques between the two of them.
