Your edges on the lowpoly can be sharp as a blade as long as you split the UVs, bake correctly and got the Y channel correct as well. Then you usually don´t even need support edges for your lowpoly. -

The way I found to fix it is closing ZBrush and opening again, choose a file from Lightbox>project>Kotelnikoff (for example) then open your project and save it, next time y reopen your project it'll be ok. -

Well, that really depends on how blue you make it. Mainly the blue is to oppose the color of the skin so you get desaturated highlights. Helps you get away from the usual plastic-y look of cg. -

If you are using/have access to the 32bit version of Maya, you can just use the tools that Valve ships with the Source Film Maker. If you go intoC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\sdktools\maya\ you'll find a "runmaya_2012.bat", double click that and it'll run Maya with all the plugins set… -
