i kinda think you need some more colour in the metal, blues for surfaces looking up, browns for surfaces looking down. sky-earth technique is great for matte paintings. -

See which channel the brown stain appears in. If its ambient occlusion then You can prevent it using 2 sided geometry for that bake otherwiise it's probably one of the projection distance values that need tweaking -

Yeah the runes are too prominent and it should be more brown. Reads less like wood and more damascus steel. I would look into using a specific timber reference.
