Colors isn't compatible with Maya or Max 2017. We have no timeframe for when it will be, unfortunately. You'll need to make color IDs using another tool or create masks from your UV shells.
Did you scale up the system settings for text, apps and other elements? Using anything other than 100% will screw the UI in any Max version, prior to 2017... http://i.imgur.com/8e9QbjJ.png
Whacked out some quick silhouettes using Alchemy for a small robot project. My favorites are: A01, A08, A09, A10, A13, A15, A19, A24, B02, B03, B09, B17, B25.
@AlecMoody : Thank you! Yes we will definitely release Q1 2018 on steam early access. We are a bit behind schedule. Originally it was planned to release in 2017, but it will be late January / early February 2018.
There's a little menu on the viewport. Make sure View Transform is turned on and the dropdown is set to sRGB gamma. http://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-0057E171-A622-444C-8CF8-F2FE70413BE2
@ZacD @Spwee Thx for your suggestion. I am now using a combination of metallic 0.8 + roughness 0.7; these values feel wrong to me intuitively but somehow I think it looks better in engine:
I have a roughness of about 0.7 for the 3d objects with a diffuse boost of 3/4 and on the floor base the roughness is 0.35. After that I used a directional light and a fair few reflection capture spheres.
[ QUOTE ] So portal was in development since 1997? [/ QUOTE ] Not sure, but that sounds about right for Valve's pace of development. Oh, and keep your eyes open for Half Life 3, coming in June of 2017!
