my problem is that the silhouette on those cylinders will look blocky with a lower number of sides and the only way i know to fix that is using more sides. brought it down to 7900 tris btw :D edit: 7500 now -

Ram: Avoid the fancy DDR433 or greater frequencies, they are made for overclockers and not the 'normal' user as most boards only take upto DDR400. As we all know overclocking makes the machine unstable. Also be sure you buy dual channel matched pair 2x1gb's and the timing is 2-2-2...I recommend Kingston, Corsair or Patriot… -

Mayas default bevel is rather crap. In fact most of the poly tools in Maya are troublesome. If your working in 2010 or lower then BPT bevel may be an option if you can get it too work. Checkout http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75942 for a little more info. -

Actually I'm the one running in 1280x1024, it's the highest resalution I can get with 75hz or more. I have meniere's disease and with it, a constant low level dizzyness that can sometimes be triggered by some 3d engines and low refresh rates of some console games.
