cool man, post some samples up when you get it working. Persevere, i think it took three seperate attempts to wrap my head around quixel suite. Then I purchased it immediately. you won't regret it.
are you having troubles with unwrapping, or do you simply want to save the time to do a proper unwrap. i am asking because i have seen a lot of people who have problems wrapping their head around uvs
Thanks everyone. So pretty much ready to wrap this up. Took another shot at the tape to make it more like electrical tape instead of weird, dull packing tape. I'll get some texture flats up shortly.
Got too busy to post, and then I had to rush off to THU. Here are what I wrapped up this project with. Any feedback is appreciated! Any 3D artist peers, lighters, level designers, everybody, have any thoughts on these?
Another update. Finished most of the body details, but now I need to figure out how to do the screen (it's fishbowl shaped, and bulged outwards in the middle) and also how to wrap that wire around his entire body. Onward, ho!
by modifiers I assume you mean deformers? Which are available in the "animation" set under Create Deformers, from there u can create a lattice (ffd), wrap (NURBS patch deformer), and non-linear deformers (like bend and flare).
The textures look pretty wrapped mostly, try to add some wear and tear to the items in the scene, I saw some pictures of old laboratories with tiles going up the walls which would make them look less monotone.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around what you want to accomplish. The way I'm currently reading it, I don't see how you could alter any model and have it not affect how the model subdivides.
I would throw more polys around the wheel. You have 10 sides right now...maybe 16 would be better? It would look good if you put some straps wrapped around the handles, just for grip.
Interesting idea. I think maybe instead of all the leather wraps, have some weld seams, rehammered areas, and maybe some metal parts bolted on rather than tied. Just would feel more structurally sound.
