I don't think there is a direct relationship between polycount and optimal texture resolution on one object. There is a bit of a relationship between character polycounts and their texture resolutions, but that's mostly due to the platform and what it's capable of.
what i don't get is, when i look at the polycount examples on topology... they also have huge quads and small ones? are these bad examples? if they are its not the best thing that they are on polycount wiki itself ?
I'd just like the polycount theme to closer resemble the default themes of something like Jira or fogbugz. This way it's not obvious I"m browsing polycount at work - not that I ever do that of course... ;)
Since Polycount is going to have a front page soon and this type of thread pops up on a regular basis, what if the top tech-heads on the forums argued out a quarterly Polycount System Build?
"If I go to MySpace.com right now will it look like polycount?" I can't believe it but I'm actually quoting myself as I had to say this in another thread here at polycount earlier today.
Hey Polycount! I'm in my final year studying 'Game Art' at University currently working on my Final Major Project - The Derelict House. Posting up my progress so far hoping for some critique and advice to make sure I'm on the right track My first Polycount thread ^^
I actually wouldn't consider it too much of a concern given its a focal point in your scene, alongside its size. It looks to me be at a necessary level of detail. The polycount in your screenshot is not the actual polycount? Is overdraw a particular issue?
Pixelmate has now been released on Gumroad! https://gumroad.com/l/pixelmate Here's a discount for Polycounters :D https://gum.co/Pixelmate/polycounters It's good for 25 people to get it for $4 instead of 7 Hope you guys love it!
Yea, but why fantasy? Should be then easy to get everyones entries in the game ones the development of the games has reached a certain state. How about a Polycount faction of characters with fitting maps which are of course located on the Polycount home planet?
