the overall design of the model reads as art deco but the texture is really holding it back. it looks as if you tried to hand paint it all which can be pretty tough. Thanks for the tip JMYoung. I went ahead and colorized the AO. I already had an adjustment layer on it but i did not add enough color to it. I also did the same for the cloth...thanks Sybrix. Here's a shot of the character and the current color map. -

AWESOME! I have a dumb question, did you unwrap the floor piece as 1 piece then bring it into photoshop and add the normal details with ndo uving the template as a base or did you bake our an AO map to help see where the recessed area is? -

I didn't mean, "do everything exactly as I did in the paintover." I did the paintover as more of a "Hey! Add more Color!" than anything. I think he could definitely improve the plants, but light them such that they don't detract from the doorway. -

Whargoul: Doesn't screen only brighten colors? Did I understand something wrong or is it overlay that you want? AFAIK that adds the difference between the color and 127 to the underlying image, which would be the vector addition we're trying to archieve. Or did I get that wrong? -

CSS is a godsend. I recently re-did my cottage. All I did was change layout graphics and the CSS. Voila, site redesign in an evening. Positioning DIVs can be a nightmare, though, each browser seems to add a little here, take off a little there.
