working on this beastly tree for an environment i did for a student project. base modeling done in max, now finishing up some minor sculpting and then on to more detailed texturing :) (old version of the tree in the environment)
I love Blender and think it's worth learning (and supporting). I've found the opinion amongst many pros is that Blender is simply a hobbyist's tool and not a very good one at that - which I don't share or understand. I think it's an amazing application. Being an American, I have a hunch that opinion is mostly relegated to…
Yo! First, start putting signatures on all your work. Old Church: The branches don't really look too natural, and the bark material needs a little work. The cross is a focal point but it's a little boring. Some damage or a crow or something could improve it. I'd like to see a wide screen version of the image. It was a 2…
Here is another update. I did an overall sculpting pass to get a more natural wobbly tree look. Now I will try doing some UVS and apply a texture and extract a mask from that so I can schulpt that detail.
Hi Guys, Made this small environment for a school assignment and after getting it graded and received some feedback on the piece, I went on and corrected it to the feedback I got. The final is shown below. Tried playing with foreground/background on this latest screenshot, also made some changes to the scene itself to give…
Kayae Sha is the name i just decided on for this race. I've been wanting to do an environment for a bit that consists of a large body of water at the top of a mountain, in a crater type of thing. So essentially a big lake, and from the lake grow these huge trees. These creatures live in the trees, but spend the majority of…
Aye Yo Polycount! I wanted to share my latest scene. I have been working on this project in my spare time and really wanted to share it with you all. I have both a breakdown of the scene and a tutorial on how I did procedural generation for foliage and grass in my scene. I couldn't find any tutorials on how to do this so I…
Hello folks, I bring probably the last update to this project as well... The contest deadline was long ago and I want to try some sculpting for now. I managed to keep the tree down to 1,022 tris. It's 1x512 diffuse map with alpha for the body and branches and then 1x256 diffuse with alpha for the canopy. When I had…
Hi there! I'm working on sculpting a tree stump. Was wondering what you guys think about it and if i'm on the right track. Renders done in keyshot (not to make it look better than it is, obviously...) Still WIP, will make lowpoly when im done with it and texture it.
I'm slowly replacing the placeholder with a twisted tree that I have made in Speedtree. It's still a placeholder of course, but it express more my intentions. I want this tree to be the main focus on the image. I want to sculpt it like a face in it like this concept I found in my Fable Legends Artbook ( I don't have the…
