I'm going over a tutorial on how to make tiling bricks with Zbrush found at http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/movies/zclassroom/tileable_texturing.mov.zip and I'm stuck at the part where the guy is placing the bricks onto the canvas and shaping the bricks. On his video, he can shape the bricks by using the move button. But…
I'm new to Substance Designer and having issues replicating the irregular brick pattern (inside the two windows) in the reference image below. I've experimented with tile/ brick generators but the brick shapes are too similar whereas tile random creates lots of great shapes but doesn't place the bricks in a realistic…
I've been trying to get my feet wet with some environment modeling and I've run into a few hurdles. I was looking at Kevin Johnstone's Gears2 thread, and how he made modular brick pieces to build up walls and columns. What isn't apparent to me is how he deals with the partial brick pieces on the end of his wall chunks.…
Hello, I have this set of tilable bricks layout. My main problem is that I have chamferd the edges of the bricks on all 4 sides. So I need to re- dynamesh the bricks. For a better smoothing. But when I dynamesh at 1024 I'm on the 3 mil count. You would think that would be more then enough. When applying suface noise to the…
You guys on this forum are probably getting sick of people asking about normal maps by now. But I'm still getting a bit stuck on the brick wall work flow. So I've been looking at these on making modular brick walls: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?p=924231#post924231 Very good, but I find I still have some…
For that pile of bricks I would create 3 or 4 unique bricks bake them to low poly then arrange the low poly. If you think about it there are 6 sides to every brick so technically speaking you now have 24 bricks to play with from any one angle. You could also create a tiling rough brick texture and use it as the inside of…
I'm working on an environment piece for my portfolio and have set my texel density to 5.12/cm for the project. There's 20 x 60 bricks in a 2k texture to get the correct brick size at 5.12/cm. Perhaps this is okay as the texture will have less repetition, but also limits the possible fidelity (resolution) in each brick (and…
So I've started making a modern modular building. Seems like a must have piece for a portfolio according to the agencies I speak to. I have a pretty good idea how to go about it. One thing worries me though, and thats which way to do the detail work- mainly the bricks. So I made a modular window section and I need to make…
Another trick i use when you want to tile it in 3d is to center the pivot point in each corners brick or stone and draw a plane with snap setting and you will get a perfect tiling solution every time. I was not offend by your answer at all. Regards Peter
Hello I'm trying to make a seamless brick texture with help of Pixplant but it can only generate seamless bricks if the brick texture has perfectly square bricks. So useless! Anyway i can do this the manual way i believe but brick seams to be hard to fix if it has an uneven pattern like i want,Its also obviously shadows and…
