Looks like a good fish plate, as far as fish plates go! But 1024 is overkill for such a small prop (presuming it is a small prop). If it was going in a game, 256 would probably be big enough for this. Maybe a 512.
I've always wanted to make a bee chick and use bigger textures so I finally did one to warm up for dominance war! haha diffused, 1024 for body and 512 for hair, 2837 polys
Also 4x 1024?! :O One 512 texture should suffice. You should set smoothing groups too, lots of hard edges between polys where the transition should be smooth (like the rounded corners and the main dial knobs).
Oooh. So much cool. Currently working on a presentation sheet and funky video for this prop I made. I can now join the 1940s and 50s radio club. Considering desaturating it a bit for a more vintage look... 477 Polys 512 texture.
@Mik2121 - Nice, I love seeing nature in UDK. However, I can tell by your material in the material editor that you wasted a TON of uv space!! You should have a 1024 by 512 or something! You coulda had so much more detail for your plant!!
Just about done with this guy Got a setting together in Maya and Unity that works out like a charm. This is exactly how he'll look in game for mobile texture flats It was painted at 1024 (this is 512) and final texture will be 256x256. Only at extreme close shots can you REALLY tell the difference between the 1024 and 256…
This thread is always pure sex! Killed a few birds with one model, tested out the new xoliul2 for myself, finished the diffuse for this (still need spec) and made an English Patient reference. I believe that's called a hat trick. I'll knock the textures down to 512 when I finish. Poly counts 170 right now.

Looking awesome cap, really neat work, looks nice and clean too. Just been working on the kitchen section of my environment yesterday evening, put together a bin, its only 1x256 so its fairly optimised (as is everything else ive made for the environment, the biggest texture in both rooms so far is a 512)
