I could have read it wrong, but in the Max thread EQ suggested baking that without hard edges. http://boards.polycount.net/showpost.php?p=1043317&postcount=86 I only baked it with no hard edges because that was the (seemingly) suggested method :) Yea its set to 1.0 :)
Nevermind my previous question, I've just noticed you can select for example faces, then pass to edge mode and the selection gets converted by default, nice :) But there is one more thing I'm not sure how to achieve... Say I have this selection here and I want to scale outward in the X/Y axis while having the vertex slide…
But that the thing, these gradients are here in order to 'balance' the smoothness of the soft edged cube. With a correct synching between baker and engine, it should be just fine, the cube with the normalmap on it should show up just fine, with nice hard edges. Now I wouldnt work that way : I would make the edges hard on…
Haha, I did a gilesruscoe and figured it out 20 seconds after I posted :D Triangulate doesn't work only these polys but as soon as I try and turn edges on them the hidden edges appear. I did spend ages trying to work it out before posting, honest ;)
thanks, sorry for all the questions but I'm missing a lot of stuff I was used to use x_x Another one I've just noticed is, I would often select a bunch of edges or faces and then press ctrl+1 to convert the selection to vertex or ctrl+2 to convert the selection to edges etc..., how would you do that in blender?
metalliandy: I really think you don't get it, though. Unless we're all misunderstanding you, ofcourse. When you break edges, you need to break the uv's along those edges as well, and move them apart a few pixels. This is documented well on the Polycount wiki, which is in my signature. I wouldn't bake something hard-edged…
AFAIK there are scripts that can replicate the Maya method in Max. I have a background in both and I've come to prefer the Max method, selection by angle & autosmooth functions pretty much do it all for me. Now I thought the issue wasn't how Blender implements it inside the program but that it doesn't export them. Who…
