@ColMatrix Oh, I meant to suggest the usage of a trim sheet for repeating elements. Tiling trims can also be combined with uniquely baked parts of course.
hello polycount artists there is a single vertex in the top image that, when mesh smoothed, splits into two? why? im welding together the elements and i dont know how to get around the issue. is something wrong with my topology?
@FrankPolygon Hello, many thanks for your help. I wouldn't think about it myself... I did it according to the first option, but i got this "stretch marks". Can i fix this or is it acceptable for this element? UPD: so, I just need to add more faces to the cylinder?
Hello again I got a new question about the modeling of trims and tiles... so when it comes to crash elements of the asset how does it is approached, do you use Booleans and make the new topology, like me in the 1st image? or you just crash the elements? the problem is that when I'm going to made the uvs these make…
I am having a little trouble fixing this area on an MP7A1's flash hider for a high poly. When sub'd it doesn't visibly pinch so does it matter? Should I just detach them into elements and add more loops? Also, I modeled the inside of the flash hider, was that stupid?
@Filip5 It sounds like the process and result you're describing is the spin tool or a curve / array modifier combination. The curve and array modifier workflow is more complex and wouldn't make sense unless there was repeating geometry in the field between the arch components. (If neither of these is the workflow you're…
infurno216: Crappy resolution, but you can see how I did it on my revolver ;p http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/028/a/e/Brotherguard_Highpoly_Wire_by_The_5.jpg I did it the way racer (was it racers?) did it in one of his "Hardsurface Elementals" videos. (currently cant find them, I downloaded them back then :/
I'm trying to place the watch along this path. I don't want to use path deform because i dont want to deform the individual elements. I tried to use a path constraint but all the pieces lose their initial location and are all placed at the same place. I would love to know if somebody has a solution for this.
Yea, thats more like it. If it's weekly, won't it have to be a pretty complex piece? Maybe the thread should have some rules too where every participant in that weeks challenge should post steps describing their process, so it doesn't get clogged up with the standard "i dont have enough geo, add more geo" stuff... Everyone…
