I just realized that the background moves quickly right when it does the slap. which results in some feet sliding. -

Connect doesn't just connect straight through the middle. Try using the 'slide' and 'pinch' values in the connect dialog box. -

For an automatic solution with some nice artist-friendly tweaks exposed as slides, you might want to check out Bitmap2Material, an Allegorithmic application. -
