Sounds like a great plan IMO and like you said its just about quality not quantity although you want to have enough just show your skill in multiple assets. You dont need a ton but a small handful or really well done assets/envios is a good plan.
Great job Vic! It looks fantastic, and you got to get all that extra experience in UDK too. My only crit is that the establishing shot looks still looks too red to me. Everything else is great. It's too bad you don't have a few more days to get envio effects in there.
I'm an enviro artist normally, but have to make a hero character for a Uni assignment. I've got most of the base mesh done, which I have to then take into Mudbox and sculpt. I've never made characters before, so any critiques are welcome. Its supposed to be a stylized, G-rated character, so the anatomy doesn't need to be…
Hey! First of all thanks to Polycount for this forum space. My name is Anton and i'm character artist, but i'm also interested in other aspects of 3d production and gamedev, that's why sometimes I make enviroment in UE4 x) Well... I start with my latest artwork, it's some studies of head anatomy and practice of creation…

Can you say anything specific about skills in demand there? Like could a junior get hired on if they have some rigged and animated characters in their portfolio (even if they didn't build the model themselves?) Would using a system like advanced skeleton be okay, or is from scratch rigging a must? Is coding a must, or is…
I just looked through your screenshots because they were enough to freak me out so well done there, your assets are spooky :P In the enviro shots however something does seem a little off to me, I think its your lighting, how are the scenes lit and are you using refection captures? If not you should take a look into baking…
My lawd that gameplay footage blew my mind. The environments! I was geeking out at them so much and I'm not one for city enviros. But this city, that execution? Amazing. Simply amazing. I hope the 'using your wits' game play is as open as it seems to be. I don;t want to be hand-held through a bunch of scripted sequences.…
Today I did a little bit of planning with some paintovers: Texture planning: So far I plan to create - one tileable texture for the "blue wall" ( - one tileable texture for "dark walls" - one texture for details and unique textures (like the door, sign, warning lines etc.) Modelling Planning: - Model for a 1st Person…
I think right now what I'd like to do is examine it further if there are any major technical problems. Following that. I think i'll start putting some props in the enviroment because right now it feels pretty weak. Painted some details into the kyhdarin crystals to break up the surface a bit. I think that was the right…
