That is not subdivided up. That is the animation mesh, it is that detailed so that they can form every wrinkle in the skin using blendshapes. 20-30k quads per head.
The door is too wide and it looks like everything should be 20% taller, the sense of height from the concept is lost. But it looks like a promising start.
$20 says it wasn't anybody on the dev team, but WAS some shmuck suit in the marketing department who thought it would be a good way to "generate buzz".
