Yea I don't really know how to rig at all, so I just did a pose manually in zbrush with masking and zspheres. If I knew how to rig I would have done a more dynamic pose ahaha
Thanks Xoliul, makes more sense. The car, as you've seen in the bmw thread, is for my portfolio. I never thought of this. Using a mask for a shader. This sounds like a way to make multiple paint jobs if many copies of the car are to be on screen.
Imo this looks awesome. My only crit would be, that I think, that the hips are too wide. But that's just my opinion. What also jumped into my eyes were those cool sci-fi elements. (Mask, back) Cheers
Yeah that's some good advice Rasmus, thanks. Actually! - I'm flattered you think it was done with dDo haha. I textured it all in Photoshop and just used 3Do for easy live preview. I will look at editing my masks :)
Humm, thanks for the reply. So, do I just need to set up the camera from different perspectives (left, right, front, etc.) and then render? With the output, do I just mask off around it and then apply to a plane/s?
If you created the Smart Mask in Designer, I think you should check the label of the material, if not, I'm not quite sure, if I'm wrong you can add some images and I'll be able to give you additionnal help Cheers
Do some pixel studies with value, best of both worlds. With your DoF studies, are you specifically trying to learn how to paint it? I think it would be okay to use masking and filters or transparency while sticking to those limitations.
Incredible first try man, I'd say you should try getting more variation or more mask variation so you can play with the albedo, roughness, etc. Still, really ncie to see your stuff here.
I'm sure you could use the texture pain tool, but o think you're best off using vertex color as a mask instead of a spalt map. this would require a cgfx or hlsl shader in Maya but is a much better solution.
Thanks guys! :) Here's the diffuse texture sheet where most stuff happens. :) I didn't bother making a breakdown of the normal map, seeing as it's just a basic normal map with the blue channel set to mask out certain areas. ^^
