I appreciate that. As far as the displacement map, I worked a while finding resources from scans already available to find what would look best. And for the most part I did use off the shelf solutions from surface mimic , however for the main body of the scales I struggled to find any that I really liked so I ended up…
Its interesting reading this thread from a canadian perspective. We have very little handguns in canada, or guns in general, so when I go to the states and see racks and racks of hanguns in some of the stores it makes me feel strange, I mean they are cool and all but it makes me feel a little uneasy. especially knowing…
Standard Max cloth is fine, I use it quite a bit for animation. I think the important thing is to make a lower poly control cage that pushes the cloth around not your high poly mesh. The link to Paul Hormis site has a plug-in and a great tutorial on doing just that. The poly count on the cloth itself will have to be pretty…

A major benefit Zbrush has over traditional character clay sculpting is in armature workflow. Miscalculate armature proportions on a clay sculpture and u may find yerself compromising more than u would in CG. If u can find dental tools cheap they have an awesome weight and precision for fine detail work in clay:
Well if you are confortable and positive you can polished it to a final look all in zbrush following Michael's video then go for it. I personally find it kind of hard to get the cleaness of shape I want that way but it's all about personnal preference and finding the workflow that works the best for you! So if that works…
Sorry to disturb everyone. I'd like to ask if there is a relatively good way to find the perspective of the original painting and restore it to a 3D scene. I always can't find the right position during the scene production process. If you have any good methods, please share them. Thank you!I want to challenge myself to…
I don't always have time to comment but when I do, I try to hit the threads that people seem to miss or the threads that have a lot of views and no comments. If its great, people can drop a quick "I love it and move on". But most of the time the art needs work and people don't have time to dig in and really help the person…
My suggestion - the more advanced you are the more personalized your training should be. If you have not even done the pipeline, its wasted money to go and get yourself a mentor. If you are learning the basics chances are you will find everything for free on the internet. If you need structure to learn then you might need…
