Thanks Swizzle! Just the advice I was looking for. I really didn't want to spend $400-$600 on a pass, but I also didn't want to miss talks that would benefit me. You're definitely right though, the main reason to go there is to network. I have a couple of friends i'll be going with that live in SF, not sure what kind of…
May as well bump this thread rather than start a new one :) Reading dreamers thread in GD made me dig through old projects and pick one to follow through to the end, so here goes. 40k tris. Few left to cut down but i think it will stay around the same number as i have a few bits of geo to add to match the high poly. Don't…
Go here: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html Buy the fastest card with the most RAM, that you can reasonably afford. The value rankings are good too, you can see which card gives you the best performance for the money. I usually like to cross-reference this list with the overall performance…
I like your work man! Few things to note. 1. Lose the purple text and and purple/pink highlights around the title text. It makes it hard to read. 2. It would be better if the text under the thumbnails were not embedded in the image. Search engines won't pick up on that. 3. The About Me and Resume pages don't load anything…
Trying an alternative version! Went back to a really old UAV model and finished it up, didn't come to mind as a scene object until the potential became clear (thanks Stromberg). The UAV has a two alternative textures (medic version and military, rendered in Marmoset), I thought the military themed one seem a bit more…
Thanks for the advice (and the jokes) :) would you happen to know how hot is too hot? I've seen 400 or 385 F at 8-10 minutes - I'll probably err on the safe side of 385... that should be fine, right? It is a desperate move, but this is a BFG card so there is no company to honor the warranty any more :( I have thought about…
pay her host (herself) a modest salary to work full time for a year (say... 40k?) and spend the rest on equipment editing and maybe paying a cameraman for 7-10 episodes. 150k is a shoestring budget if she chooses to make a real documentary series and get paid. I feel like people who look at kickstarters forget that STAFF…
The fact that they were much more realistic with their art then the better part of the population today, and didnt have tons of photo ref and the internet is a testament to how they truly were masters. Aesir- were you referring to "David", because that was purposely elongated because of the height of the statue and how it…
Oho, I love me a good Warhammer (especially 40K) model! If the gun is to match the scenario of the original hard model? With the Orks and Grots manning it? I would suggest "Makin' it Orky!" Live up to the true spirit of the WAAAAAGGHH!!! and give it some random slaps of metal and various other items. ; ) A few points…
Anything Canon is good. The Rebel XT is going to be overkill if your main goal is getting textures IMO. I think the main criteria for a good reference/texture camera is one that you will ALWAYS have with you. You will get better quality with an SLR, but you won't have a big camera like that with you at all times... I have…
