Isn't this an interesting case of the "double-posty necro dance" Dejawolf made this thread a year ago, and just yesterday reposted the same link in a new thread. And Lamont, instead of posting in the new thread, posts in the old thread from a year ago. It's some kind of bizarro world. I'm scared. Somebody hold me.
Damn, some of those vehicles look like they're at the same poly count as BF2's, they must have some very scaled LOD models for zooming in and out! Looks neat, generally I don't like games in a real-world setting, but maybe this can rekindle some old Command & Conquer nostalgia.
Hello, I was wondering if you guys would help me out. I skimmed trough a post by someone the other day concerning molding. I cant seem to find it. It dealt with taking an edge and converting it to a spline then just setting the renderablity to planar. How do you go about doing that, i managed to kindof do it, but could not…
@Veer_P An interesting shape, they're typically fiddly to model in polygonal subd that are usually fabricated using an extruded die cast mould' and also CAD designed, hence indeed a challenge so my approach would be as if modeling a car body shell of some sort with a Shrinkwrap Modifier. Because there's a similarity in…
Hi Richard, I agree with you, sometimes my texturing and polygon distribution could be better but I think this level of detail would hold up in an third person shooter. It is what I made at work and it works. It's true I'm working the old way and i will try next time to do something more clean and modern.
Oh if only my life was only that interesting. What Googling DOESN'T bring up random "hot girls", seriously. Also, this computer is less than a week old so it's not like I've yet had that cold and stormy night to explore my less hetero side lately :P Am done now :D
That link is great DBC. Bookmarked. Also, Poop's tutorial section has some real texturing gold in it. http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/tutorial.htm I make regular use of the Harliquin channel clouds skin underlay (I found it from poop's old character tutorial still on that site) to get some good base variation.
:D as i understand it there's no significant benefits unless you're using a 12th gen intel cpu or perhaps some other fancy new components My machine is a year old so no benefit for me in updating yet. I'll probably hold off for a year or so til they've got a bunch of stability fixes in
One thing about the price, PCs devalue a whole lot quicker than Macs. The mac fandom works in your favor when selling off old equipment. About these Intel macs, I'd hold off on buying one, still first generation, I'd wait for the kinks to get worked out.
