Thank you very much @kanga for taking all this time to answer this topic ! A lot of good tips here. I'll try the Daz thing, I wanted to avoid to base my work on 3D models (each time someone model over an other model, there is a new interpretation, like the loss of sense when translating a text in different languages…
Ok so, "normal mapping edges" isn't really a "Thing" lets get that out of the way first. You don't "normal map" just one area of your model, you bake a normal map from a highpoly to a lowpoly model. "Normal map" isn't a verb. I believe you're referring to either beveling/chamfering edges or using smoothing groups to denote…
So. I am his partner, and let me explain why and how everything will works. Because of the problems with baked meshes in udk( we know there are methods to reduce the artifacts but they cant be 100% fixed) we try a new approach to have smooth looking. We will make supported but optimized meshes (everything will be welded…
First , sorry for not updating this thread. I am really ashamed to be honest that I am not able to keep this thread alive over the whole time I am working on this project! But here is a big update/final update for you, because I`ve called this project finished. I also finished my bachelor degree with this project and I am…
Hi there! I'm answering to you here about the question you asked me about the wrappings on DeviantArt...why? because I'm to lazy to reopen the Da notes that I closed for mistake. XD The bandages you saw on my "Shina the Leopard" model are all done by hand, no special tecnique or things like that at all, just a sketch with…
No offense, but if you've gotten better results with 10 sided geometry then 8 sided geo, you've screwed up somewhere. I went ahead and spent 30 minutes on these 2 models. Left one has 1 bump per poly, gives really nice, even results. Right one would/should give nicer results but that would involve tweaking the cage some…
Been spending the last week making the chandelier. It was very quickly in place, and the rest of it was spent making it a lowpoly. Moving onto some smaller assets next.
Its good Lowpoly is nice but if this is for portfolio I want to be impressed Model me the weld on the back and some of the cracks on the wood If you want to show off optimization skills make a LOD Its also a bit too evenly rough, the tape also has too much even brown edge
