pumbaa: You have to either make one small tileable mesh and put some of them together in Maya or 3ds max. This will drastically reduce the amount of objects needed. I suggest that you use smoothgroups instead of uv seams next time for your unwrapping as they result in the same island creation during unwrapping in blender and you get smoothgroups... well kind of.
