That's entirely up to you. Many people here take extra month to finish a piece they really like. Some simplify the concept further, or turn it into a bust(face and upper torso only). And some don't like it as much anymore and simply stop, waiting for next month instead.
Small update. Been busting my ass to get these textures done for the dolly and coke machine. The textures for my coke machine are getting there but I still need add a few more things, and work on the metal pieces of the model. Any feedback or criticism is most definitely welcome.
For the sake of thoroughness, I have to post my very first terribad sculpt. I heard when you first install ZBrush, you're pretty much contractually required to bust out a demon of some sort....so obligatory demon first sculpt post! Yay!
Good morning! I’m going to bed! I’ll likely play around with some more color schemes tomorrow, as well as finalizing the bust before moving onto designing the technical functionality of the full body. http://www.therealdanpeavey.com/2010/02/concept-progress-223-late-night/
Thanks cryid, I just started using group loops and loops from polypaint and im loving it, no need to retopologize there. Why wouldn't you use group loops for something like a bust or character given how much more time consume re-topo can be?
More school Work...Did a lot of projects and it was rather intense so I kinda stopped posting for a while Character design project for a zbrush class. Did the design my self, anatomy is a bit off but it's good for a first finished character bust (high to low workflow)
I've only printed in plastic but sandstone I think the above posters are correct, there would be weight issues with the bust, like those things might just fall off even if it prints out correctly. Awesome work though. Really nice job on the form / legs especially.
Thanks, xxxcubanxxx! Quick bust because I've been enjoying XCOM lately and have aliens on the brain. Based on a sketch by Al Rio. The goal is to do a lot more of these types of things as exercises between time spent on my other projects. We'll see how that goes.
Maybe while first getting the hang of Zbrush, start with a 2D concept. It doesn't necessarily have to be your own concept. Start small, work on busts of characters to really get the hang of the software. As you build your skills you can move on to things that are more complex.
Cheers for the feedback and suggestion :) I should point out that I've not touched the shoulders/neck beyond the harsh ridge and I agree they need looking at. Part of that is I've not decided whether or not to keep this as a bust or turn it into a full character. Will keep it in mind once I'm happier with the bone crown.
