I've recently redone the presentation for a few of my old models. I hope polycount likes sparkly pink dragons, muppet goblins and sassy pirate wenches. I don't think I've ever posted in WAYWO before, but I often look through this thread. Here they are:
I really like this style suprisingly, it's super dirty and has very little focal point, but I like it, it slightly reminds me of a nar shadda from Star Wars knights of the old republic II. What are you going to fill this with and do you have a thread?
Some inspiring work so far this year. Keep 'em coming! This is for a little diorama scene I'm doing. It's from some old art of a band I listen to. Really love their art style and I hope to do more related work this year. [IMG][/img]
@Oskar!: Dig that creature. Great job! Dug up an old concept of mine which I'd wanted to take to 3d since I made it. Design needs some refinement though. Aiming for a tad more realism but still keeping the stylized flow of the forms, particularly the limbs.
Thanks Kurt and Chai, I agree with you, but it is also true that in the test scene illumination is virtually absent, everything was left with a simple ambient light with two bounce. I saved your images and definitely I will use for the next scene. Our First old outdoor test!
ScoobyDoofus: She looks more realistic, but I kinda prefer the old version more. There was a lot more tension in her face and the oddities made her look interesting. She's fairly "generic" looking now. Might be worth pushing some of that back in? Especially around the eyes and brow.
suburbbum - awesome concept, I like the futuristic feel of such an old weapon. firstkeeper - I really like the colors your getting into the texture. I wish the face wasn't mirrored, but it's still great work. and I'm calling this done, time to move onto something simpler (and hopefully quicker).
tsup fellow polycounters been messing around with rendering normal maps on a sss material in MentalRay its still very WIPy though. Oh and my apologies for the shameless huge name ( it just lookes cooler like that on my fb page :p ) and this is a old matte paint i revisited.
Lots of great Zeds all over the place.:) Since I put back my old ATI, I cannot use custom CGFX in Maya anymore, so I played a little with custom shader in UDK. WIP Diffuse and normal only, no spec yet. 8402 tris. 2k texture.
Freakin awesome work in here since i last looked guys! @Sorken in particular - beautiful scene dude, Cool characters and a nice old west scene comin along too. Just done a sculpt to keep me active today. Cant wait to see more from the WIP guys :)
