Either way works, I wouldn't shy away from ngons. I rig and skin characters all the time and ngons aren't problematic, in a lot of cases they are ideal. You do need to be mindful of how it will triangulate because that can cause issues but that is really easy to manage. Most of the time I focus on weight painting and don't… -

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to make UE4 match the other shaders by any reasonable means. I think marmoset has a UE4 shader, but it's wildly inaccurate anyway. But to get it to look good inside UE4, I think you need to reduce the contrast in the roughness map. Bring everything closer to a middle range. -
Rigging/Animating Character - 'Bad Mesh' Problem

can someone claifiy the difference between SP and SD's height map spectrum?
Substance painter's height map range selector has black in the center and white at the fringes, Substacne designer has black at one end (lowest), with white at the opposing (highest) so in SP does black in the center represent SP's average height, or does it represent the lowest point? -

You might just make a copy of the sculpt (just so you can experiment a bit), and lower the scale of the eyes, nose and mouth. Also bring the brow ridges lower and flatten out the eye slope so its not as elf like. Just to see. Maybe widen the skull a tad so its more like the sketch. -

Thanks for the input! So ok, I can bring in more of the proportions into the model. As for the color scheme, it was inspired a bit by what you may see on something like the Star Wars A Wing (I believe). I'll take a look at the metal for the hands. With that, do you mean the whole gun piece, barrel, etc., or just the claw… -

This is lol awesome. The only thing i would say you need to improve would be your poly distribution. You got edges in the legs that seem to be doing your sillouhete no purpose. You could probably bring your character down to 8-10K range just by cleaning up the model. Good work man! -
