Hey there ! :) I haven't had the time to play with SpeedTree yet so not sure if that's doable. Megascans wind data is stored inside the objets vertex colors (there's a Red to Green gradient that defines the intensity of the wind iirc) so if you SpeedTree can take that information into account when importing the asset it…
Hey another quick question; How do I control the amount of wind sway my Speedtrees have? Setting "Wind Strength" to 0.0 does nothing. Do I need to do this in Speedtree modeler ? it could be due to the fact I need to scale al my trees up by at least factor 5, but that's how they come out of the modeler by default...
I would have to agree that showing work generated in speedtree isn't the best idea. You should work on hand-making vegetaton. Yes, this is again if you don't work for speedtree. Scene composition looks good on the first shot up top, but it could use some variation in the form of fallen trees, rocks, ground foliage, and…
hey guys i just started work on a bit of fan art after seeing the trailer, i started modelling on and off for about a month now and finally have some free time to work on texturing it, so far i've only really started blocking in colour so there is not much in the way of details in the texture, i will be updating here often…
For the trees I'll be making, I need to have them animated in a realistic fashion. I agree that 3rd party plugins or scripts would help. But I've tried tree'd, branchy, and various other programs and nothing truly gets the results I want. I had the chance to test out Speedtree with UDK, but since this is going into Max and…
@JustinSlick Doing it by hand is slow but once you get a base then you can just tweak it and have a new tree. Plus speedtree won't let you export as obj unless you own a licence so you're limited to what you can do in speedtree. Doing it by hand you can then do some cool vertex painting and i've even used the foliage tool…
Hello Vollgaser, you probably mean with "wrong scales" the project Shrink. Well the goal in this project was to create an ant sized player who is walking through a world which is bigger than him. I don't understand what you mean by whole architecture exactly, but I take this as a feedback to improve on the interior a lot…
A lot of games use speedtree or something similar. However I'm not a big fan of speedtree. It tends to make these bland, polygonal looking, trees. Most tree generation systems in games aren't really complex enough to truly capture the character of a tree. There was a really good CG tree in the movie "what dreams may come"…
nice work, although the thing i noticed is that the birch branch plane texture seems to be getting cut off, or is it just me? i dont think the mesh fits 100%. im trying to learn speedtree over the summer to get some good looking trees, any tips? im finding it hard to get the placement of branch planes to look right. also…
Used the SpeedTree modeler to create new trees and bushes from scratch. Super fun program to use. Materials are default speedtree stuff, but for the bushes, I clipped some fronds from a bush in the backyard and made textures from that. Just albedo and AO, I don't see a need for anything more than that for our purposes.…
