Thanks for the comments folks. Zipfinator : For metal I just do it by hand. I start with the clay tool and rough things up a little, enough to just give things a bit of a warble. Then I do some subtle damage with the clay tool, maybe mask some more areas I want to pop out an additional panel of metal from and deform it… -

Right now the only creation of contrast really comes from saturation which is bad so to say. I need more contrast inside the wood/ metal materials. more updates! I've updated the dumpsters, although the front scuff marks are still part of the main diffuse texture, i've added a decal to the front to help mix it up a bit. I've also removed all of the signs from the dumpster diffuse map, and made 3 decal materials using the textures i think they're 128 in size, can't… -

I think the materials badly need a pass to break up surface types. The concrete, pipes, walls, all feel like the same lambert. Try adding specular highlights to both with different specular power values. Compositionally for the environment shots, I would suggest using the camera and lighting to highlight something… -
