Every time i check my texture i have to rotate my model into the light and select the plane model. I tried hitting save next to the camera button but it never saves my 3DO settings. Is there a hotkey to save the settings or something?

If you're saving as a tool, I haven't encountered a tool that saved so large. If saving as a project, they tend to be wonky since they save all your undos etc. So it tends to be huge and give tons of errors like that. saving UI is very handy, however, just using the default UI saves doesn't save everything. you also need to save 3dsmax.ini and reconfigure the file paths for your new computer.
Er, for 3d meshes, you have to save the tool as a .ZTL file. It doesn't save the 3d mesh if you just save the document - you have to save the 3d model from the Tool palette (the Save Tool As button, should be just above the Export/Import buttons).
