Looks good man! Nice rock sculpts. I dig the mini waterfall/stream as well...maybe you could get some particles around the areas where it runs into the rocks so it looks like water is splashing off of them a bit.
If they worked like previous GTAs (even IV) they modelled a big big terrain and split it into parts, placed ingame at the right place later. Next everything get streamed in/out depending on distance around player like Ott marvelous picture says. =)
@carvuliero : I disagree! It messes up the texture streaming (mip-map usage). A bigger texture will be loaded because the average resolution is constantly recognized as beeing to low. You will have to re-adjust this later in the engine. Or leave it as it is and the texture-space will be just the same.
If your system can support it, at least 8 GB. I have a relatively modest system, and I'm posting here, streaming SOA on Netflix, and building lightmaps in UDK. :) i5k Ivy Bridge 16 GB Crucial Ballistic DDR3 GTX 460
I'm not sure the performance complaints still hold up either - I'm on an i7-4790k with a GTX970 and it's generally speaking pretty good, only the occasional bit of hitching which I assume to be to do with streaming, but it's so infrequent I can shrug it off.
Hey, there! I've streaming today some of the AO, I restarted it, I really don't like it (was horrible). You can see me here: https://www.twitch.tv/elsordomudo I'm liking the result and I'm gonna continue this way. Hope you like it!!
Can I not do both? My 360 streams porn. Anyway, internet insults are so mediocre. Boiling it down to bodily waste or sexual practices that you are too ignorant to acknowledge. Meh. Someone post the link to "When Insults Had Class"
Texture quality should be the same for both platforms because of texture streaming. It's still two different platforms that render stuff a little bit different, but it shouldn't be that noticeable, more than that I can't say. And yes, let's not make this a console war thread.
Going to do a selfless plug real quick for the game we're working on here at Nerd Kingdom. Six days after putting sandbox RPG up on Steam Greenlight, we got the official notification from Valve that we've been approved! I personally haven't seen any game go through that quickly, so naturally we're all super stoked over…
Hey polycount forum, I am currently doing research about crowdsourcing in video games for my bachelor thesis and I am looking for people who create content for the Steam Workshop to fill out my survey. I already contacted some people via Steam and had some good responses but it is really hard to reach people there and…
