hey, so i have been playing around with this again. Im trying to convert some of my old lowpolys into highpolys but the edges are always way too sharp. Is there a way I can work around that? My lowpoly versions dont have a lot of segments and whenever i try to smooth it after dynamesh, the result is too soft or blurry.…
I had the same problem one time. this is because of the way it's baked from high to low. to get a smooth transition, the transition angle on the low poly cant be to sharp. anything 90 degrees or sharper causes it. A way to fix it is to give it 1 bevel to reduce the angle transition. this will occur only on areas where the…
Your problem with the highpoly is that you probably work "zoomed in" too much. Best to view the model at roughly the size it would be in game. It will give you a better idea of how sharp an edge should be. Exaggerating the smoothness of the edges will also ensure it will look better on lower resolutions. But if this is…
My original box was like that as well, and I have gotten comments on my edges look so sharp you can cut yourself on them, so I beveled most of my edges. I only used a 2 segment bevel, so things did not go TOO crazy, but still put it up there at a grand. How do you have 90 degree egdes, but make them look not so sharp?…
I've got one of these: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Chairs/Fabric-Chairs/OWARLNGTON Looks comfy, right? yeah I was fooled too. It's just a bunch of terrible design flaws loosely held together by a chair. I'm sitting on two thick cushions and it's still bloody uncomfortable, it can't be raised…
Great the advice you've all shared here, its all been a great help! Last night I had an artist message me, asking for a bit of an update on this stuff. I'm far from the expert of any of this, but I ended up going in enough depth in my reply that I figured I'd post here also, for any new artists stumbling upon the thread.…
i did this primarily because I'm going to need it at work on monday but it's a neat enough trick that it's worth sharing here generally speaking I don't do a lot with fx-maps. most things can be done better in pixel processors if you apply enough maths but in this instance I will need to take advantage of their inherent…
Hi, I need a 3d model of a calligraphy character to be made. I am willing to pay. This is the calligraphy character: I would like the silhouette of the character to be exactly as it appears in the above image, and the 3d part of it is to just give it some thickness. Not as a simple extrude, but instead making it a little…
Hi there! I got a Problem with all Big Textures, downloaded from cgtextures! I gonna scale them down to fit my UV Isle, but then they´re becoming soft. nothing left of the sharp hi res look :( What im doin wrong? My workflow is like this: 1. Open Photoshop with my UV Diffuse Layout 2. Open HiRes Texture 3. Select the right…
Maybe I am blind or maybe stupid but can't find the solution for my case. I found some similar but they did not help me to solve a problem. the are mostly on flat surface but mine are curved.I also read advice in that thread, and I found that higer topology can be a good idea, so I apllyed subdivide before extrude that…
