I'm not a character guy, but like anything else it helps to look at UVs done by others. For example... http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/street_cop_workflow_by_mashru_mishu?o=print Also, Pelt can only work with sufficient seams. If there's an area that refuses to relax properly, it probably needs another split to help…
And how would I make that copy be the UV's for the other face? EDIT: Can you show me with images what you mean? The actual model I am working with is a gun stock. the left side is already all stiched togteher. Hitting relax just further disorts the shape.
Regarding price : I am aiming for it to remain 150$ since this was the cost of the first grey one. As for the pose, Messiah : I tend to agree! I am working on the male at the moment and this one will have a natural, relaxed art model pose. That way the male and female statues will complement each other :)
Unless you're modeling a fully naked character, you'll have quite a few places where you can split the mesh into various subtools in order to get even more subdivisions out of them. Other options include local subdivision, local retopology with zremesher, and the edgeloop tool + relax.
Thanks, Jerry. Here's an update. I worked a bit on her anatomy, unwrapped, and blocked out the basic colors and features. I did a pretty shit job on unwrapping. I made the mistake of mirroring UV's and welding them together before everything was properly relaxed. Lesson learned. Wires
In worst case, you can move back those bad verts to a good position. But there must be some other ways. Like you can try the loops tools. It has a function to straighten or relax edges. There is the make planar button as well, but I'm not sure if you can use that on edges.
i've been using unwrella for like a week now. I love it. i still have to do some manual tweaking with the relax tool, but overall its nice. most def worth a try. Its helping make the most dreadful part of the art process a tad less dreadful.
I don't know about you but i play games to relax. The common day man looks at tv for 5 hours every night. Is it so much to ask that i game for two hours to let my brain unwind from going into mental overload during work time? :)
just put that modifier on the low with the viewport shader applied. should fix some of those errors. couldnt tell you what it does tech wise. works kind like a relax on the normals to make em snap into place or something. make pretty mod is what i call it. heh.
Got a few guitars but these are my babies: Bass is a silverburst Ray34 Sterling Music Man Guitar is a '84 silverburst Les Paul Custom Also got a bad pedal addiction I've got more that aren't in the pictures. I think I've finally relaxed on the gear acquisition syndrome though.
