I'm building this weapon and I was wondering if separate pieces merged as one object are acceptable in most game engines (and portfolios).

I'm assuming all verts are merged and your uv's are meant to overlap? maybe upload a scene file

check out mesh cleanup tool. also with object mode selection, merge vertices with .01 value.

I would also have merged all the cylinders and quicksliced away the parts I didn't want.
