This thread has been a pretty good read all around. Sad, funny, ironic, depressing, and uplifting all in one. How fun. Some random thoughts to toss into the fire. Some of this will be rehashed shit in slightly different words, I just feel like writing again: I think the whole "AI doesn't store data - nothing is stored, so…
This sounds about right to me. I mean even before AI art this is how I largely design my own 3d characters. just find a few things that I like and mix together. put a little bit of my own twist on it. I mean, everything that anybody could possibly imagine has already been designed a billion different ways, why should I…
Sure it can. But for what reason? And what exactly do you want to put under punishment? Looking at public available images? Painting in the style of a living artist? That's all things that human artists does too. Imho the real reason why AI is hated is because it is a competitor for traditional artists. And because of hurt…
You can´t drive me crazy when you didn´t get the point (or intentionally decided to ignore it) with generating maps in Age of Empires and calling myself level designer and aimbots analogy to art hobbyists in the future. I´m not even going to use synthetic diamond and natural diamond analogy, because to you it is all the…
Been had this one on ignore, and by the looks of it rightly so, seems to have stirred up the rest. ANYONE for it is against your well being if this is the only source of income and for many of us it seems it is, the poor argument of you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket is fighting for the same people that put us…
all the law is threat of violence, and almost exclusively it is used to protect the owning class, not the working class. Wow. Just wow. I have stopped reading at that point already. Whatever you say my friend, whatever you say. And we don't have AI for music yet, right? Of course we have, since eons. Also here no lawsuit…
The laion dataset usage copyright is for research and learning. It wasn't supposed to be used to train AI for commercial purposes since that infringes on individual copyrights. It doesn't. That's the dilemma at the moment. Some of you eagerly wants it to. But it simply is not.
"Was luddism a success?" is not the question that I asked. And I promise you, they understood the machines just fine, and I'm not just talking about looms. Why did the Luddites smash the machines, and what happened to them after that?
As terrifying as all of this is, I don't think our clients will use this tech in the near future (2-3 years). It's too risky...for now. If some legislation comes out that data needs to be opt-in and be completely transparent, then our clients will have to rethink their workflows and redo a lot of work because even if they…
Off-topic, but I really wish games would be less efficient in the parts that matter. Is open world design not the cancer that killed games? Going bigger means optimizing pipelines for throughput so multiple designers can work on the same map at once without conflict. There's no space for authorial intent anymore. It's…
