you can paint in your heigth map in substance painter and use a filter to convert to normalmap in realtime, and you have the option to use alphas/stencils and different tools to generate shapes

Awesome work! Would love to see that scene in realtime and explore it :) And really nice work with the wallpaper, I'm using 3ds Max too and have come up with similar solutions to that
The clothing on this looks fantastic. Is it realtime or something like keyshot or vray? I think the head needs work though to bring it to the level of the outfit. Great work so far though!
