Vahl, I see what you mean by the other culprits which might be causing that smoothing error on the boot. The textures on either side of the "error" dont really match so i thought it should be a seam.It was in the back of my head, but i didnt bother clarifying i guess. Thanks for that bit of information :)
So I tired taking the advice of the Author of that UE4 lighting master class and using the engine to generate my lightmap UVs... Now I've got the error "Vehicle_Van_1A Lightmap UV are overlapping by 3.4%. Please adjust content - Enable Error Coloring to visualize." God damn I hate lightmaps!
so the bake in max came out correct? I'm talking about the edges you set there. As max works always with triangles changing the visible edges there will change the triangulation. Have you change the edges where the error occurred and tried again? It's obvious that the error occurs along two visible edges
I just bought it . . . trying to get it to work on Maya 2013 for mac. No luck so far. Here's the error maya throws when I try to run the installation scripts: # Error: line 1: ImportError: file <maya console> line 1: No module named zPipeMaker # Any thoughts? Thanks.
Yes, I'm sorry I didn't mean to get defensive. When I got the error, I just double checked my work and the error was gone, and I didn't really do anything... so I guess will just have to wait and see when more beginners try the tutorial.
Hey, I figured out why I get the "Unsupported input format" error... The PSD needs a true "Background" layer. Without it I get the error. Select the bottom-most layer, Layer menu > New > Background from Layer. Probably a hotkey for it, whatever. That one was bugging me for a while.
why is the windshield curved? in the concept it looks flat at least to me, and that would probably save you some tris. I'm not sure how closely you are supposed to follow the concept though.. and it doesn't look like 'smoothing' errors as much as it does triangulation errors. (I'm pretty sure that's not the same thing)
I've been spending some time refining a couple areas bit by bit, here is a couple screens of the retouched serrated edge. There is still a couple areas that are having some random errors which i'm trying to hammer out w/ trial and error. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks!
I don't think the unwrap is your biggest problem so far. I think you want to have a look at manga anatomy (which is the same as anatomy anatomy) first. Its easier for you if you nail the naked form, then cloth it. The model is looking a bit goofy at the moment. The hips are a bit large for a male. The head hands and feet…
I have all my light map UVs set (not overlapping), and no more degenerate tangent errors. Yet my light baking still looks like it does when these error do occur. What the heck is the problem? Could the pieces of a lightmap be too small? I have no idea what is going on, but I need to get it fixed. Thanks for the help guys
