After a bit more poking around I think I figured it out. Here are the steps I'm currently using. It should be said that this is the setup I'm using for a single file export of base level geometry. 1) Export the scene from Maya to the Unity Assets folder. (I use a sub folder called Level Geometry). 2) Create and empty game…
Thanks a ton for the dedication Eric - between this and the CSGO contest moderation you are active on all fronts ! The following might be more suited for the bug report thread, but since you just mentioned layout edits I thought I'd mention it as I am not sure if this is a known issue (no idea how to not embed this ...):…
I'm no master, so keep that in mind, but here's my thoughts. In terms of art: - Work on giving your models more interesting silhouettes. The buildings in the medieval village scene, for example, are all very simple and it makes them just look like a box with a triangle on top of it. - Your diffuse textures seem to be…
Farina, you'll probably want to learn PBR, that's the workflow the vast majority of the industry is using going forwards, though for the ease of getting your brain around it to start with you might want to use metalness to start with as it's easier to understand with only a few technical concessions. Spec/Roughness…
I don't think anyone doubts you can do 3D. You posted a link to your website and we are really just critiquing the site layout and content. Usually when people here post threads with their website and name they are looking for portfolio critiques, including website layout. It's all about presentation as well as the art. If…
Updated website again. Took all critz and fixxed up things. Went back to old layout without lightbox. @shape - Hey thanks for the suggestions and point out of the artifacts. I went back with my old layout as it seems lots of people dont like lightbox and i dont want people turned off before they even see my work :) @jett12…
Hey, your name is one letter off from my last name (Baily/Briley) heh, just thought that was funny. Snake, there are quite a few things that you could do to improve your uv layout, 1: would be to not seperate most of your connecting pieces, it becomes a pain to make them look natural. 2: You can also mirror a few pieces…
[ QUOTE ] guys.... all I wanna do is make boxmapping love , and not fight wars... [/ QUOTE ] Hah well, If you look back at the tone of your initial question (which was seeking help from maya users) is it *really* that suprising?! People chiming into the thread with nothing to contribute but 'maya suxorZ u nOObs' isn't…
Looking for some feedback on the texture-work for this guitar. There are already some things I plan to go back and revise, but I would appreciate some new eyes to tell me what could be improved. Thanks all! :) Full Material: Isolated Textures: Albedo Roughness Metallic Normal (sorry for the UV layout view on this one, I…
For what it's worth, UVP allows for all of those. You can group islands, specify a box in which they're to packed, set rotation limits per island, and there's a tool that aligns islands to a world axis. I'm the same way: I like the face to be rotated upwards, I make my arm/leg islands as rectangular as possible and then…
