Thanks a ton for the feedback, both of you - I really
appreciate you taking the time. I will respond to each of your points
separately below: Really appreciate the thoughtful sculpting advice! You’re absolutely right
about pushing the secondary forms. After reading your feedback, I went back and
deepened the wrinkles,…
Well, that's precisely why I was mentionning earlier that some of the confusion in this thread might be coming from where you are in your learning of polygon modeling in general. This (and the weird question about the ears) 100% confirms it. And again none of this relates to "old" or "new" models (beyond the fact that…
If those anti AI protesters would be smart they would fill their portfolio with pure AI art. When the AI starts learning from AI Art it either becomes incredibly bad .. or so good it doesn't need us anymore .. and then decides it would be better to kill us all.. hmm ok scratch that.. if they really would be smart they…
First of all I wanted to quickly get some basic shapes and lighting down. Fromt the start I had been playing to make it very modular again and from only a single angle. So I could achieve as much detail as possible and simply imply detail everywhere else. I wanted to be able to make it a scene with a few animations in that…

I just wrapped up my scene the other day and I don't think I could've done it to that quality without his course but there is no hand holding. He's a great teacher and you'll be working alongside others,…
I think that for any artist, their art will speak for itself regardless of external factors such as participation in this or that project. If you're an AAA artist and market yourself intelligently you'll be fine. Smart employers know that success is often a matter of being skilled at "good luck." An acorn will grow into a…
Smart materials or smart masks are just a starting point not a one click solution (although sometimes it just works). I almost always need to tweak materials a bit by hand. You can also tweak the material by increasing contrast in the mask or by tweaking the curvature contribution to the mask.
So here is a baked model of a gun I just started texturing. I was starting out with some smart materials in substance painter and this weird bumpy/ripple effect showed up (even though it looked smooth before the material was placed on it.) What am I doing wrong? The first image shows my low poly and the second shows my…
