I splitted the head from the body as suggested. I'm working with 7M only in the head, and everything is fine. But, as you can see, the head albedo does not match with the body. Each article of cloth would almost require a different setup and could vary in difficulty pretty drastically. I don't think the RAM upgrade is going to do you any good unless you have a 64 bit OS. Since you claim to have 3072MB of RAM it appears you are running 32 bit, because 32 bit caps 4GB at about 3072 MB.
