Hi! I've been working for the last few months on a jungle environment, focusing on learning foliage first. Then UE5 released so I ported the project over. I'll be logging my progress here as well as some breakdowns. Feel free to request some breakdowns, or give some feedback on the project. The smaller static foliage is…
for something as precise as shown on that gun image, its usually built from the basemesh which is used to create the highpoly, or created with retopo on top. zremesher isnt there yet for anything precise. it's there to make some sculptable meshes, but i don't think its production ready past this idea. that being said, some…
Thank you very much for your comments Alex (and by extension, Michael). I totally understand what you mean. The reality is, this is my first time modelling something like this with such curvature and so as I began modelling the main body of it, I made some destructive mistakes (i.e adding too many loop cuts where they were…
@YairMorr, I think it looks great! If you wanted to give it another pass, I think the surfaces could be pushed a bit more. E.g. some breakup and variation on edges. Looking forward to the next one! @AD_3D bake turned out nicely! I'd say you decide the polycount limit. If the camera gets close, I think it's reasonable,…
Nissa Revane, Planeswalker: one of my first pieces of fan art, and also my first foray into Unreal Engine 5. For more, see my artstation project here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/v2GbG3 Since I was seven years old, Magic has been a fixture in my life and was an early exposure to fantasy art. I decided to jump into…
@PolyHertz I have recently upgraded from a 5950x to the 13900k and it is so much better. The ram speeds tank so much when you put in 128gb. DDR4 goes only between 2666-3600 and ddr5 cant go above 4800 in most cases. I think upgrading the cpu is the one thing that speed ups your workflow so much. Importing to nanite? np.…
I'd imagine a voxel engine would be more to your liking. No baking or worrying about how much detail you can add since everythings consistent in that regard. If you haven't already, check out MagicaVoxel and see if you find that type of art enjoyable. Also for hard surface, there's the face weighted normals workflow which…
The nanomachines work like a grey goo (Or grey death if you're Deus Ex fan) multiplying and gradually mechanising banana eaters from the inside out without them realising. The Cyber banana people develop a new faith surrounding the worship and consumption of the banana, gradually bolstering the ranks as more and more…
I think this is a fascinating topic. Especially in high end realtime renderers like UE5 with Nanite highpoly assets, Lumen and VSM. We create our 3D scans with a cross polarized setup, which creates textures with essentially the real Albedo color values of the scanned object. Even with all UE5 features turned on (except…
