Well yes. CryEngine is a bit tricky in that way. If you look at some sample files from RYSE, you will see that the texture sheet looks much darker from what you will see in-game.
Hmm, i would say there is no benefit to do method B, and having the restrictions of rotation only is history I build my rigs with all bones floating (translation and rotation), like ryse and uncharted do it.
It's been a while since I posted some concepts. I've been busy with work and too many occasions to go to. These are 4 types of silhouettes that I have been most interested in during my sketch and studies. I favor the third one the most. I know I said I was going to do a Soul Calibur character but I think this character is…
Thanks man! Made my day :) You can see how I made the fur in the old thread. Though it's basically just the Ryse technique with some tessellation on top, so I can't really take credit for it.
These are Ryse SIGGRAPH PDF's from Crytek. http://www.crytek.com/download/Ryse_SIGGRAPH_2014_Christopher%20Evans_Asset%20Production.pdf http://www.crytek.com/download/Ryse_SIGGRAPH_2014_Lars%20Martinsson_Character%20Creation%20and%20Pipeline.pdf…
Hey. Im big fan of ancient Rome and in particular of the game Ryse Son of Rome. Even after 7 years game looks incredible! I admire people who made it. I choose concept from Karakter (thank you!), which they did for Crytek. In general, no changes, except for cut off parts (to get in the correct aspect ratio), which I will…
it is, and they even discuss how they faked it for that Ryse on console in one of their tech paper (i'll try to dig it up). essentially they took their SSAO pass, tinted the shadows based on the colour pass, downsampled heavily to simulate a kind of blurry-illuminated haze, and overlayed it.
Whatever happened to Cryengine? Kinda depressing the engine that gave us Crysis and Ryse has fallen out of mainstream opinion. Not that there's anything specifically wrong with Unity or Unreal, but competition is always a good thing to help drive innovation and prevent the industry from stagnating.
3D World gets my vote, just gorgeous. Who am I kidding though, Bioshock Infinite, Trine 2, Ryse, all the others already named, they're all beautiful. So much quality work produced last year.
Yep, 2.5D could be the way depending on your camera setup. The another thing that could work and would be fairly cheap is the "ryse moss technique" Or even parallax with a few steps\iterations. Or a more simplified implementation of that - See "Bump offset - Unreal Engine"
