hell mark, do you have a closer pic of the high res? It looks really muddled, can't tell if it's what I'm after. Ultimately I'm looking for a real wrap effect like this: It looks like maybe splines and an extrusion where used? Wondering if I'm doing something wrong though. I always end up with the damn extrusions rotating…
Modelling this axehead shape: Don't like this pole! Anything I can do about it? EDIT: realizing that there are three planes in play here like a cube, I ended up doing this: I think I'd need a singular subdivide to have enough density to counter the subsequent creasing (due to the two new edge loops running to the bottom),…
That doesn't look like SubD that looks like you applied a smooth preview. Is this the case? If so you've done yourself a disservice and given yourself way to much geometry to reasonably work with. Also you don't necessarily carry your edges through like that you can terminate them lower along the surface. That way you're…
thanks gibson and break- dont get to do alot of modeling lately at least not detailed, so I like this challenges, when i have few. Very fulfilling for me. Its like my poly workout for the day.
I changed the flow a bit for that example (a by-product of me starting from scratch), but even if you take the original and just add more faces like that, it should go quite a ways towards not warping things (like so)
It seems like a good idea to use these approaches. As a Maya user, I do not have any of this fancy modeling stuff. But I like to retopologize intersection of tubes with quad draw, it's still faster than doing it the traditional way.
