Hey guys! So I've been a member of polycount for about a year or so now, however this is my first post. For an idea of what I can do here is my personal website : http://payneless3d.com/ I am setting out to create a modular environment that is based off of the Ellora Caves, except instead of being set in the jungle I am…
I've never actually done one of these though. I think everyone has to have done at least one right? :D Anyways, I managed to scoop up Substance Designer during the summer sale and decided to give it a test run with a new environment for my portfolio. COMPLETE:…
Thanks to a relatively slow day at work, I've been able to get a little bit done on this so far. I've done a quick pass at marking out the different pieces for the scene, Its a pretty basic break down. I figured i'd try and keep the different assets as modular as possible, as i know i need the practice on modular pieces.…
I did a 24 hour marathon once. only lasted 18 waking hours but I finished an entire skyrim inspired environment. It was good training, and I learned alot in the process. As for your goals, I dont think a 2 week environment is unreasonable; especially if you are taking a modular approach. When I was in school we had 2 weeks…
Hey those tutorials really impressed me. I honestly thought you were a industry veteren or something. It was a really good idea to put them in. Any employer looking at those would be impressed by your knowledge. You've taken a great approach to building a portfolio. Making impressive looking scenes built of modular assets.…
For the environment, it appears you're on the right track. As for texture seams/repeating, that's up to you to keep your textures clean and seamless when repeating. This can be a pain in the ass until you get used to doing them. Also, try making 2-3 custom window sections. This will help reduce the repeated look. When…

Since the entire scene is repetitive pieces, decided to build a few modular pieces I could work with and unwrapped these few pieces . Imported the pieces to Unreal, and started filling up the initial blockout with the modular pieces and used materials from Megascans library. I thought Ill put in the few filler props that I…
Hey Kali, wicked choice of concept, it looks awesome. Just a quick question, will you do a Modular and UDK block out before creating all the assets in the environment? Your models and bake both look great. They are very clean, have nice details and I look forward too seeing your progress. I might be wrong and I've…
Hello everyone! I have the pleasure to attend a 10-week CGMA's UE4 Modular Environment course by Clinton Crumpler. It is an amazing opportunity to learn plenty of new techniques and build a high standard portfolio piece. I would love to share my progress and get some feedback from you! Idea: I am a huge fan of the Metro…
