As a general rule, not just for faces, don't delete or subtract weighting. Select the bone you want to give weights to and add instead. When subtracting weights it divides up the weighting between all bones in the influence list. This can lead to unwanted results. Remember, just add weights.
Colour ID maps are there for convenience, to allow you to quickly select material types. Re-modelling entire pieces just to get a colour ID mask is counter productive. Just use polypaint in zbrush. Flood fill the polygroups that you can, and hand paint those you can't.
thanks for getting back to me. it may not actually be related to the pathing. I need to do a little more investigation, but it could be related to the fact that I chose different texture resolutions per textureset. With Multi-Layer PSD selected it probably can't resolve the different resolutions into a single PSD
You can crease in Max by selecting your edges and ramping up the Crease value located under the Edit Edges section of Edge component mode. One thing I don't like about creasing in Max is there's no default feedback (like Maya has) that shows an edge is creased.
if you're using maya, in the UV Editor, you can do a 'Polygons>Unitize' which should separate all your faces and scale the to the full 0-1 UV area. Then select all the UVs and do a 'Polygons>Move and Sew UV Edges' and it will map them all in a strip.

Ah, nevermind, I fixed it. Googled the warning message and it turns out I needed to compress the animation by going to the Animation Compression tab in the Animset Editor window, selecting Least Destructive compression algorithm, and applying it to the set. Thanks again for your help! Silly and relieving that it was such a…
fml. Drinking and learning MAYA + MEL script don't go well together. I just noticed that because I was attempting to run it through the script editor that it was grabbing that as the selected pane. It works just fine when its set up as its own command bound to a hotkey.
Go to Create > Type, (select the 3D Type), > Modify > Convert > Type to Curves Took me a while to figure this out, the new features are highlighted in green so that helps a lot. Trying to be as specific as possible with the locations of the tabs, since 2017 doesn't have many tutorials out yet.
Awesome 2d stuff Vella! From the selection of images there definitely is a unity with all of them, though I feel like you could push some of the values. Also, is purple and yellow your favourite complimentary? I suffer from using blue and orange too much. Keep at it!
