Those assets are mostly cube primitives with simple textures. General workflow: Box Model -> UV -> Texture -> Rig -> Skin -> Animate. I can't recommend any specific tutorial, but there are a lot of free tutorials out there. Autodesk has pretty good documentation and here is their official tut. If you have some spare cash…
I'm relatively new to Maya and currently teaching myself how to use it on Digital tutors. At the moment I am following their "introduction to Maya 2013" guide which takes you through a tutorial on how to create and animate a small air craft. I've had no issues apart from creating pipes or extruding NURBS. The tutor tells…
Hi everybody!! I made this material a while ago but i want to share it with all of you to may help if anyone is struggling as i was when doing it. Hope you like it!! . . . So... First of all, what you have to make sure before starting losing your mind with lots and lots of nodes inside Designer is to visualize the material…
The more "typical" workflow for these type of assets would be to wrap the asset to your mesh and transfer/bake the maps (without the need to mess with your geometry). Asset vendor should also have tutorials/documentation to show you how to do it (i.e. tex xyz has videos for their Vface assets).
+1 for Digital Tutors and Eat3D. Digital Tutors will single handedly get you up to a very competent level with Maya or Max and their tutorial series are not only enjoyable (since you work on a project with a nice finished result, model etc) but extremely user friendly. The instructors are awesome and basically hold your…
I've not seen the rigging introduction dvd, but I have seen and used the digital tutors' character setup dvd. Pros They are very thorough, explain every step in detail and explain it very clearly. The rig built in the dvd is a complete one, rather than different dvds tackling different aspects in detail. While the rig…
You say you're not working from reference, but this looks incredibly similar to the older Digital Tutors android subdivision modeling series. Granted, there's some differences (the joints look slightly more complex, for instance) but the legs and torso look practically identical to the ones used in that tutorial, aside…
I recently followed a DT tutorial on 3DS to learn the program, and made this study piece. The tutorial provided the environment image and the platform model. The traffic cones are free models I got online. There's a lot to learn about working in 3D, so any C&C - even minor stuff - will be greatly appreciated! Animated…
Train work in progress. Plus here is some tutorial stuff with Digital Tutors. I only modelled the luggage and a few shaders on it while everything else (models) are from Digital Tutors. I just love the learning paths they have there.
Hi. I have downloaded project files from a tutorial and noticed that when i opened them on my computer, the textures arre not linked. If i go to the attribute editor and check File attributes-Image name the path is there but its not path to where i saved my sourceimages folder but its path to the source images folder of…
