awesome model, it inspired me to do one of my own. i suck at rigging so its just default pose. 1300 tris and 512 diffuse. I hope you dont mind but i used your technique for making hands low poly.
Must admit my bottom jaw fairly hit the floor when I saw this guy's amazing "Junk Bashed" Mech concept marquette/figurine designs, taking inspiration from artisans such as Kow Yokoyama, Luca Zampriolo, Lincoln Wright and "Titianfall's" Joel Emslie
keep it smaller in scale and simple so you can actually finish it and everything can be high quality. for concepts/inspiration....artstation baby. there is so much good stuff on there, I use the like function to build up reference librarys for potential projects. good luck :)
This one was my first idea of an asian dragon hunter. The design inspired me so I started to do some concepts for the cloth/armor and tried a new technique for the values and color. Here're some progres steps. Have you any advice how to improve it?
That looks really good. I've been working on hands fairly often as well recently, but yours look way better! Very inspiring, and I think you "nailed" the nails as well, which I found hard to get right at first. Nice texturing too.
Simply wonderful. I agree with chriszuko, the skin/scales would feel a bit more organic with some more color. Mess around with the specular to make the skin less shiny/waxy. Your sculpt is breathtaking man, im gonna throw this in my inspiration folder :)
@cgmentor: thanks :) @cholden: Thanks for your post cholden, I'm glad you like the new direction! And as for the link, amazing! And you'd think I would have seen it already, but nope. Total fail. But really super inspiring, and awesome models. I'll keep working :)
MMOs! I've been doing hand painted lowish poly stuff for a while now. Even studios that are using normal maps prefer people with texturing skills over artists with portfolios full of grey high poly models. For some inspiration, look at Allods Online.
Getting inspiration from the way *Zbrush* (I mean, ZBRUSH) does something, the irony! Haha. But yeah it would be cool to have a transpose thing for bending stuff around, but for core manipulation, gizmos all the way! I failed at rotating a cylinder last night :P
I really like those references! I need to work on the low poly soon but I will definitely see if I can change the barrel a bit if I have time. I'm not familiar with Tessella inspired art work, do you have any links?
