I just went back to the quick launch setup that win xp had. problem solved for me. I hated all the new features that came with windows 7. I'm sure some people like that but, it just reminds me of how useless the mac os is.
Try working on a different model.If max doesn't crash then it's the problem with that file.You can create a new max file and merge the model into the new max file. If max does crash on your other model files also then, maybe re-installing should solve the issue.
well yes and no Joxx. Id say you biggest problem is that u havent research enough in montreal. Ive been here for over 8 years, and All the problems u have are easily solves. Except the taxes i guess. (worse for a freelancer tho kthanks)

GAH! I just solved it! It was my dual monitor setup. As soon as I set it to single monitor, it worked fine. Thanks to those of you who replied, and Cheapy, you're the one that kept me going as soon as you said your's runs fine. -caseyjones
It was great!!! The entire audience was clapping and cheering when the pencil trick happened, the movie got a standing ovation when it was finished, never seen that happen before! I really hated some of the over-the-top technology parts, that could have been solved in a different way.
Hey Adam thanks for the crits. The texture resolution is 1024x1024 for the body and 512x512 for the head. Your definitely right about variation in the skin tones. still not sure how im going to solve that. Here's some more shots. I'll get a shot up of the head shortly.

Do you mean that you have a double sided piece of clothing, and that the weights on one side are different than the back side? quickest way to solve that which I know if is to select by vertex and apply weights by flood fill. Then you can smooth it afterwards if needed. This way you can make a vertex selection in wireframe…
