I stumbled upon a handy little script that I thought some of you might like. It basically automates the whole moving objects to the 0,0,0 position and back during export which is great if you have multiple models in one scene file. Another nice addition to the script is copying all of the transformation data from a 3D…
Subdivision sketch: Hemispherical helmet. This is a brief look at a few basic strategies for routing topology around cut outs and panel lines on spherical [and ellipsoid] surfaces. Note: there's several different ways to structure spherical geometry. Since this write-up is specific to basic subdivision modeling only basic…
Hey all - I have a 13HD Touch that has seen very little use (approx 5 hours) that I bought when my Mom was recovering from surgery, and I worked remotely, in order to stay with her for a few weeks. Well, I clearly didn't get much work done, hence the near new tablet that currently sits boxed and on a shelf. $725 $675…
So. I managed to make a material setup that makes grass displace away from the player's character, which is great, but now I have some doubts. The game I'm working on will have some wild life, which is supposed to interact with foliage too. But the displacement method I've implemented is directly fed only one actor's…
The company I'm doing work for is looking for 1 or 2 UE4 generalists to help support some of the projects coming in over the next few months. We're looking for broad knowledge of UE4 because the team is small and we fill many roles. We have a team of artists so you should be focused on working in the editor implementing…
I need to rotate along an edge, in the edge's local angle. I'm not asking how to reposition a pivot location. I want to get the Rotation pivot angle Set to Edge, just like in Scale and Transform options. See my screenshots. Take note of the Z-axis direction in each image, I successfully Set to Edge for Transform and Scale,…
If I see it correctly one issue could be that the cage you use isn't covering the low and high poly mesh properly. The cage has to completely capsulate the meshes you're trying to bake with. If the edges of the cage are in the same location as the low, or high poly (basically where you have z fighting) you get this result.…

In some locations you can still find Max as a main package. E.g. here in this town I believe there's only one studio (part of a US/UK-centric group) fully invested in Maya as the core software. And my further understanding is they have plenty of Max artists because they're hiring from the local pool, in particular from a…
