I suggest in time of struggle to take few min and gather some useful reference , you could start with an actor or someone who have heroic features or comic superhero or even something idealized as Loomis head proportion guy + also check robust or masculine skull -

Nice , the opening up is sweet, but the rotors do look sort of comically small :p Obviously on a real bettle the shell opens up futher but that might knock the pilot off, You could have the abdomen beneath the shell drop down to give you more space -

It's shocking to see people age, especially when you haven't seen them for a while. He's wearing it well though. Good to see Mr Gibbons too. That last shot is textbook 'Moore sinister' lol Wish I'd kept me Dr Who comics... *sigh*
